Is gumline re-contouring painful?
We give you a local anaesthetic so you shouldn’t feel any pain. The gums can feel sore after the procedure and we can prescribe paracetamol or ibuprofen. You can expect to be fully healed within days.
How will this treatment affect eating and drinking?
Be careful about what you eat in the days following treatment. Soft foods like eggs, pasta and soft fruit or vegetables are recommended. When your gums are healed, you can return to your normal diet.
Will the results last for a long time?
The treatment should last for life if you look after your teeth and gums. In a small number of cases, the gums grow back. Our dentists can often repeat treatment in such cases.
How should I look after my gums?
Brush very gently following treatment. Return to your daily routine when your gums heal – and visit the dentist for regular check-ups.
