WHAT IS ROOT CANAL TREATMENT?
If a tooth becomes badly decayed, bacteria can infect and damage this area. In some cases, the tooth will become darker, which could mean the tooth’s nerve is dying.
Root canal treatment deals with the infection and, for most patients, saves teeth that would otherwise need to be taken out.
With root canal treatment at Wytes you can:
Enjoy the benefits of a procedure that deals with infection and can often save the tooth
Experience a treatment that gives the patient no more discomfort than having a filling
Take away the pain
HOW DOES IT WORK?
We can analyse the damage to your tooth and prepare for treatment by taking x-rays.
Under local anaesthetic, we’ll remove the infected areas and drain abscesses.
Your dentist will fit a temporary filling and we’ll book you in for your next appointment.
We’ll fill and seal the tooth. For some patients, it’s best to fit a crown.

Does root canal treatment hurt?
We perform these procedures under local anaesthetic so you should feel no pain. The treatment should give you no more discomfort than having a filling.
How will I feel in the days after root canal treatment?
There will be some discomfort. We can prescribe painkillers to ease your pain.
Will the structure of my tooth be weakened?
We remove the tooth’s inner section, so it will be structurally weaker than your existing teeth. In some root canal cases, we’ll use a crown to reinforce your tooth.
Will the treatment last for a long time?
With a good daily routine and regular dental check-ups, your treated tooth should last for many years.
Could the root canal infection return?
In rare cases, the infection can come back. It’s usually possible to repeat the treatment.
