DENTAL IMPLANTS TREATMENT JOURNEY

A typical new smile journey

STEP 1

PREPARATION

We begin by taking digital impressions and x-rays so we can plan treatment.

Week 1

STEP 2

Place the implant

After giving you a local anaesthetic, we carefully place the titanium implant into the jawbone. The treated area is left to heal. It usually takes at least three months before it’s ready to support a dental crown. (Please note: Sometimes it’s possible to place the implant and the crown in one visit.)

MONTH 3-6

STEP 3

Abutment and impressions

We begin to get the implant ready for the crown. Your dentist starts by making sure the implant and the jawbone are bonding together nicely. At this point we’ll insert the abutment piece that will attach the implant to the crown. We then take impressions and send them to a technician who will engineer the ceramic crown to perfectly fit in with your existing teeth.

STEP 4

Frequently Asked Questions

Question iconDo dental implants hurt?

Arrow
Answer icon

We deliver these procedures after local anaesthetic so patients should not feel pain. Patients will feel some discomfort in the days that follow treatment.

Question iconWill my implants last for a long time?

Arrow
Answer icon

Dental implants can last for years if you have a healthy, strong jawbone and if you take care of implants and crowns.

Question iconWill there be any complications with implants treatment?

Arrow
Answer icon

In rare cases, the implant fails to integrate with the jawbone. The implant can then be removed, leaving the jaw to heal – and another implant can usually be placed.

Question iconHow do I take care of my implant and crown?

Arrow
Answer icon

Follow a good daily oral health care routine and go for regular dental check-ups. Your dentist will give your more in-depth advice.

Question iconWill dental implants affect my eating?

Arrow
Answer icon

Yes. You can rediscover the joy of eating.
